Do You Already Have Your Signature Drink?

Bars and restaurants are launching their signature drinks - original and unique drinks that customers won't find anywhere else. Does your business have its own signature drink? If not, this article will provide you with tips on how to make it happen.

What Is a Signature Drink?

It is any unique drink that characterises your business and expresses its character. It can contain local ingredients and reflect the local culture. If you want its sips to reflect what your business is really like, you need to create a memorable cocktail that will keep your customers coming back.

How to Make a Signature Drink?

Before you start crafting it, think about whether your venue is casual or upscale, festive or romantic. Do you want it to be tied to one particular season or do you want to serve it all year round? What colour should it be, what flavour profile and name should it carry?

Stir, Taste and Savour

Incorporate your favourite flavours into the drink. Floral flavours like homemade violet or elderflower syrup pair well with gin, while orange and yuzu complement tequila perfectly.

If you have already chosen the base spirit, you can add liqueur, bitter or lemonade. However, it's also good to think about salt and pepper. A pinch of spice will help bring out the flavor of the drink. If it's too sweet, add citrus fruits.

If you don't want to experiment too much and mix your own drink from scratch, just add something to the classic cocktails that people love. For example, a margarita can be enhanced with a unique rim to the glass that can have shredded coconut, faux herbs, or add a dash of vanilla extract. Simply find something that will make classic cocktails stand out and have your own twist.

Decorating as the Icing on the Cake

There are no limits to your imagination, but it's a good idea to base it on the flavours of the drink. If your drink contains lime juice, for example, then garnish it with lime slices. For an espresso martini, for example, you can put a few coffee beans on top of the foam. You can rub the rim of a tequila margarita glass with sweet juice and dip in salt. The drink not only looks good, it tastes better too. Take extra care on the appearance, if the drink looks luxurious and original, there is a big chance that your customers will take pictures and add it to social networks.

Unique Name

So, is your signature drink ready? The ingredients you've used can help you decide on the name: The setting in which your business is located or anything that will sound appealing and make your customers want to try the cocktail.

Some establishments might play it safe and choose their signature drink based on the cocktail their customers order most often and just tweak it. Remember, however, that a signature drink should reflect the personality of your establishment, your special ingredients and your typical serving style. It should represent your business, so pay special attention to its creation.
